This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Manage a structured outreach strategy for designated regions, emphasizing areas with significant solar development potential.
• Identify and acquire appropriate parcels utilizing GIS tools, assessor databases, referrals, and community connections.
• Engage in proactive outreach through phone calls, door-to-door visits, farm tours, and participation in local agricultural and community events to develop a consistent pipeline of qualified land opportunities.
• Clearly articulate SPG’s value proposition, detailing the solar development process, project timeline, and benefits for landowners.
• Assess landowner interest and collect essential site information, including acreage, access, drainage, crop patterns, title history, and surrounding infrastructure.
• Present and clarify proposed deal terms while assisting in the negotiation of leases, easements, and option agreements; escalate significant commercial or legal issues to the Land Acquisition Manager and/or Director of Real Estate.
• Maintain open communication with landowners to answer questions, clarify next steps, and establish long-term relationships founded on trust.
• Record all engagement activities to ensure prompt follow-up and consistent progress towards finalized agreements.
• Conduct site assessments to document physical, environmental, and land-use aspects such as wetlands, floodplains, setbacks, and adjacent property uses.
• Collaborate with interconnection, permitting, and engineering teams to verify technical feasibility, access, and closeness to existing infrastructure.
• Identify potential risks early and suggest mitigation strategies to sustain a robust and viable project pipeline.
• Keep detailed and precise records in the company CRM (e.g., Monday.com), including contact information, site data, and document status.
• Provide regular updates on outreach activities, conversion rates, acres controlled, and progress towards acquisition objectives.
• Monitor land acquisition budgets and expenses, pointing out cost efficiencies or variances that need to be addressed.
• Ensure smooth and complete transitions to the development team with all site files, agreements, and supporting documentation well-organized.
• Represent SPG professionally in all interactions with the community and landowners, nurturing positive relationships and trust in the company’s local presence.
• Attend public meetings, community sessions, or industry events as necessary to support project awareness and education.
• Collaborate with external brokers or local representatives when appropriate to broaden outreach coverage and maintain consistent communication.

• Adhere to all company safety procedures, vehicle policies, and ethical standards.
• Travel regionally several days per week during active acquisition phases, with occasional evening or weekend meetings to accommodate landowner schedules.
• Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in land acquisition, right-of-way, agricultural real estate, or rural business development.
• Experience in community-scale solar or renewable energy is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to secure multi-acre site control and manage negotiations from initial contact to execution.
• Strong understanding of lease structures, easements, and option agreements.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with landowners and stakeholders.
• Proficient in GIS mapping tools, county assessor databases, and CRM systems.
• Analytical mindset capable of evaluating site viability, infrastructure proximity, and environmental or zoning constraints.
• Highly organized and data-driven, able to manage multiple outreach efforts and documentation requirements simultaneously.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently across multiple states.
• Valid driver’s license, insurable driving record, and ability to traverse uneven or agricultural terrain.
• Familiarity with farm operations, drainage systems, title commitments, and recording procedures is a plus.
