• Providing consultation to the laboratory’s clients regarding the quality of test results and their interpretation in relation to specific patient conditions.
• Actively participating in the design, implementation, and management of the quality management system, which includes monitoring key indicators and investigating issues with appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensuring that the testing systems developed and utilized for each test carried out in the laboratory deliver quality services across all test performance aspects, including pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases.
• Conducting timely managerial reviews of all new and/or significantly revised policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Establishing policies and procedures for the lab director group that confirm individual members possess the necessary education and experience; receive adequate training for the services performed; demonstrate reliability and accuracy in assigned tasks; maintain competency in specimen processing; and have a system in place to identify needs for remedial training or continuing education.
• M.D., D.O., or PhD in biological, chemical, medical technology, or clinical laboratory science.
• At least 4 years of specialized training or relevant lab experience in high-complexity testing.
• Board certified by an HHS-approved board.
• Possesses or is in the process of obtaining a NYS CoQ in the relevant permit category if involved in NYS sample testing.
• For California only: A valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license or Clinical Genetics Molecular Biology Scientist (CGMBS) license issued by the State of California.
