Junior Site Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Assist in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of Fable’s systems and infrastructure.

• Oversee systems, react to alerts, and aid in troubleshooting production challenges.

• Collaborate with engineers and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to resolve issues spanning both infrastructure and application layers.

• Contribute to enhancing system observability, which includes logging, monitoring, and alerting.

• Aid in the maintenance and enhancement of CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.

• Support infrastructure and configuration modifications under supervision (e.g., cloud resources and environments).

• Help identify avenues for improving system performance, stability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Assist in initiatives aimed at minimizing operational complexity and technical debt.

• Engage in incident response efforts and conduct post-incident reviews (postmortems).

• Document systems, processes, and troubleshooting methodologies.

• Acquire and implement best practices in reliability engineering, system design, and platform operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, SRE, or similar fields (including internships).

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

• Fundamental understanding of software systems, APIs, and web applications.

• Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Bash).

• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) or a strong desire to learn.

• Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a willingness to learn.
