Insurance Representative

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• The Insurance Representative is responsible for processing and overseeing unpaid third-party insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or government-assisted program accounts to ensure appropriate reimbursement.

• Prepares and submits claims to payers through electronic means or by traditional mail.

• Secures all necessary medical documentation that is required or requested by payers.

• Proactively identifies and follows up on outstanding insurance balances, taking the necessary actions for account resolution in compliance with established federal and state regulations.

• Completes tasks within authorized timeframes to ensure adherence to departmental standards.

• Remains informed about all state and federal billing requirements and changes related to insurance types within their area of responsibility.

• Understands edits and relevant department procedures to effectively submit and/or rectify errors on claims.

• Processes and resolves claim denials.

• Utilizes advanced knowledge and understanding to handle payer rejections.

• Conducts trend analyses, manages appeals, and addresses low payment or underpaid accounts.

• Provides input for meetings specific to payers.

• Manages challenging account situations and resolves issues that delay or prevent payments from payers.

• Performs various job-related duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; post-secondary or vocational courses in accounting, business, and communications would be beneficial for this role.

• A minimum of six months of related work experience is required.

• Proficient computer skills are essential.
