This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Engineer specialized in the reliability of electronic components, focused on ensuring that critical devices (such as chips, transistors, and passive components) meet quality, lifespan, and performance standards in high-demand applications, such as the automotive industry.
• Collaborate with the client's Component Engineering team and suppliers to select components that meet the reliability and lifespan requirements of the vehicle.
• Review and approve technical specifications for critical components (chips, transistors, passives).
• Analyze the BOM in conjunction with the Component Reliability and ECU teams, ensuring compliance with design standards and vehicle lifespan.
• Identify and document potential risks in selected components.
• Maintain an up-to-date record of critical components, associated risks, and corrective actions.
• Conduct routine follow-ups with suppliers to obtain updates on components, testing, and reliability data.
• Draft and send technical communications to suppliers detailing reliability requirements, objectives, and testing plans.
• Manage responses and ensure that suppliers meet agreed deadlines and specifications.
• Collect, structure, and analyze reliability testing data provided by suppliers.
• Ensure that information is complete, current, and accessible for internal teams.
• Lead or support technical investigations to identify the root causes of component failures.
• Organize meetings with suppliers and internal teams to discuss findings and define corrective actions.
• Negotiate specifications, pricing, and timelines for components with suppliers.
• Ensure that components meet the required quality and reliability standards.
• Prepare technical reports on the status of components, identified risks, and progress on corrective actions.
• Present findings and recommendations to internal teams and stakeholders.
• Propose and coordinate improvement actions for components or processes based on reliability data and field feedback.
• Knowledge of electronic components
• Level: Advanced (+5 years of experience).
• Detail: Proficient in chips, transistors, passive components (resistors, capacitors, inductors), and discrete devices. Ability to interpret data sheets and technical specifications.
• Component reliability
• Level: Advanced (+5 years of experience).
• Detail: Experience in reliability testing such as failure analysis, accelerated life testing (ALT, HALT), and component degradation evaluation.
• Supplier management
• Level: Advanced (+5 years of experience).
• Detail: Skill in negotiating technical specifications, coordinating corrective actions, and maintaining effective communication with manufacturers and distributors.
• Root cause analysis (RCA)
• Level: Advanced (+5 years of experience).
• Detail: Use of methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, or Ishikawa to identify and resolve component failures.
• Reading and interpreting technical specifications
• Level: Advanced (+5 years of experience).
• Detail: Ability to understand and apply standards such as AEC-Q, IPC, JEDEC, or ISO 26262.
