This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead efforts in architecture and modernization of infrastructure that supports large-scale VA enterprise health systems.
• Design and implement secure, scalable hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure solutions.
• Assist in the modernization and migration of legacy healthcare systems, including environments based on VistA/MUMPS.
• Review and verify AI-generated outputs related to infrastructure components, environment configurations, and deployment specifications—evaluating their accuracy, completeness, and alignment with VA security and operational requirements prior to implementation.
• Collaborate with VA government stakeholders to ensure AI platform infrastructure components comply with federal standards, acting as the primary infrastructure liaison between the VA environment and the LTS product development team.
• Create infrastructure roadmaps, reference architectures, and technical standards that align with VA and federal requirements.
• Work alongside application, database, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps teams to facilitate system modernization initiatives.
• Architect solutions that ensure high availability, disaster recovery, scalability, and performance optimization.
• Assess and recommend emerging technologies, infrastructure tools, and modernization strategies.
• Support the integration of infrastructure across cloud, data center, network, storage, virtualization, and identity management platforms.
• Ensure adherence to federal cybersecurity frameworks including NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, and Zero Trust initiatives.
• Engage in technical reviews, architecture governance, engineering assessments, and modernization planning activities.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist in documentation efforts, including architecture diagrams, technical design documents, implementation plans, and operational procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering or architecture.
• Experience in supporting large-scale federal IT modernization initiatives, preferably within the VA or healthcare sectors.
• Proven capability to critically assess AI-generated technical outputs—such as infrastructure specifications, environment recommendations, or configuration guidance—for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal and VA standards before implementation.
• Strong proficiency in hybrid cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform).
• Experience in designing enterprise infrastructure solutions that encompass virtualization, storage, networking, identity management, and computing environments.
• Familiarity with infrastructure modernization strategies applicable to legacy applications and systems.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring, automation, backup/recovery, and performance management solutions.
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity and compliance requirements in federal environments.
• Background in supporting highly available, mission-critical systems in regulated environments.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
