This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct research on indirect tax legislation.
• Evaluate taxability, sourcing, place of supply, nexus, registration thresholds, exemptions, rates, filing obligations, and other indirect tax inquiries.
• Analyze statutes, regulations, administrative guidelines, rulings, forms, EU directives, and other primary authorities.
• Keep track of US and international legislative and regulatory developments that may impact Taxwire’s clients or products.
• Convert sales tax and VAT laws into organized rules, decision trees, product categories, and testable requirements.
• Document each finding with clear reasoning, authority sources, effective dates, and known limitations.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to translate complex tax regulations into dependable product functionalities.
• Create test cases that encompass typical scenarios, edge cases, exceptions, and conflicting authorities.
• Utilize AI agents and research tools to identify authorities, compare jurisdictions, extract changes, and formulate structured analyses.
• Develop workflows that enhance research efficiency without compromising accuracy or traceability.
• Over 5 years of experience in indirect tax, with extensive knowledge of US sales and use tax and VAT.
• Proven experience in researching and interpreting primary tax authorities, both US and international.
• Ability to distill complex sales tax and VAT findings into clear, structured, and testable requirements.
• Proficiency with structured data, spreadsheets, tax research platforms, and technical systems.
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
