This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.
• Oversee the operations of staff engaged in industrial housekeeping and janitorial services.
• Deliver cleaning services to uphold cleanliness, efficiency, and livability within commercial and industrial facilities.
• Manage and direct the activities of a commissary facility.
• Assign tasks, supervise, mentor, and schedule housekeeping and janitorial personnel.
• Approve payroll documents, accounts payable, supply requisitions, and billing statements.
• Train new employees while providing continuous training for staff development.
• Set quality benchmarks and work procedures while assessing staff performance.
• Address work-related issues and offer recognition, guidance, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
• Conduct interviews and/or recruit housekeeping and janitorial staff as required.
• Provide support and direction to staff in alignment with corporate and client safety initiatives.
• Lead safety meetings and ensure daily operations adhere to safety protocols.
• Identify, address, or report safety hazards present at the worksite.
• Maintain documentation for HazCom implementation and manage administrative records.
• Oversee, replenish, and distribute assigned inventory.
• Perform facility inspections and coordinate the care and maintenance of equipment.
• Manage scheduling and travel requests for the unit.
• Resolve minor maintenance issues or client emergencies, or facilitate permanent solutions.
• Handle commissary cash, oversee inventory management, deposits, ordering, and merchandising as assigned.
• Alert supervisors when safety and sanitation standards are not achieved.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent, complemented by formal training or equivalent experience.
• At least three (3) years of verifiable management experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or the service industry.
• Proficient understanding of cleaning processes and equipment.
• Experience in training and directing staff.
• Involvement with or advanced knowledge of corporate safety programs.
• Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Must successfully pass pre-employment contract requirements, which may include drug testing, physical and fit-for-duty assessments, and a hearing test.
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team with employees, customers, and clients.
• Capacity to make decisions with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to stand for 12 hours per shift during the scheduled rotation.
• Must be willing to reside in dormitory-style accommodations and meet cleanliness standards at remote camps.
• Proficient in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
• Must comply with and adhere to company and client safety policies and regulations.
• Candidates located outside the Fairbanks area may be responsible for travel expenses and accommodations for pre-employment tasks in Fairbanks.
• Must be able to travel by plane or bus to remote camps.
• Must meet the specified Fit For Duty physical requirements, which include lifting, carrying, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, squatting, and other related movements.
• Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, frequently enduring arctic conditions, moderate to loud noises, fumes or airborne particles, and potentially hazardous or corrosive chemicals.
