This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Receive and process referrals for hospice care from members of the Guiding Light Hospice marketing team, healthcare providers, families, and other sources.
• Verify insurance eligibility and coverage, including obtaining initial authorizations for services and pursuing reauthorization for ongoing or additional services.
• Coordinate with healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and social workers, to collect necessary demographic and medical information along with other documentation.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families to clarify the hospice program, services available, and care expectations.
• Collaborate with the billing team to ensure that managed care customers are billed in accordance with managed care organization agreements.
• Establish and nurture positive working relationships with current and prospective managed care customers.
• Respond promptly to requests and concerns from managed care customers.
• Assist in enhancing community, customer, payer, and patient perceptions of Guiding Light Hospice as a high-quality service provider.
• Coordinate the scheduling of admissions and ensure timely transitions to hospice care.
• When applicable, arrange for hospice nurse practitioners to complete initial face-to-face visits.
• Collaborate with insurance companies to verify coverage and secure authorizations for hospice services.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
• Provide continuous support and assistance to patients and families throughout the intake process, addressing their questions, concerns, and emotional needs.
• Bachelor's degree in social work, nursing, healthcare administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Previous experience in hospice, healthcare coordination, or patient advocacy.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting patients and families during challenging times.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare regulations, and insurance procedures.
• Proficiency in computer applications, including electronic medical records systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards while handling sensitive information.
• Demonstrate autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in executing job responsibilities.
