This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Oversee and track the overall workflows, standards, and objectives for the HIM functional unit.
• Guide, train, and manage personnel involved in HIM operations.
• Organize daily workflows and task assignments while ensuring adequate coverage.
• Work collaboratively with HIM Department, DHTS, hospital, and clinic staff to address issues and uphold the integrity of electronic health records.
• Analyze work queues, set priorities, tackle target-achievement challenges, and modify assignments as necessary.
• Implement state and federal laws along with regulatory requirements within the work unit.
• Guarantee that quality, timeliness, and customer satisfaction metrics are achieved.
• Partner with the HIM System Manager to recruit, select, onboard, and train new team members.
• Recognize professional development needs and oversee the growth of staff members.
• Assess productivity and quality standards while participating in annual performance evaluations.
• Act as a technical resource for staff inquiries and complex customer scenarios.
• Suggest departmental policies and procedures, including the documentation and testing of database logic requirements.
• Deliver prompt verbal and written feedback to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Formulate, execute, and manage operating goals, protocols, and procedures.
• Engage in employee involvement initiatives and carry out other related tasks.
• A high school diploma is mandatory.
• A minimum of six years of experience in a progressive healthcare environment is required.
• An Associate's degree in healthcare or business may be considered in lieu of two years of experience.
• A Bachelor's degree in healthcare or business may substitute for four years of experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Experience in data entry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to gather and analyze intricate problems.
• Capability to organize, prioritize, and accurately multitask.
• A solid background in customer service with the ability to function effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Competence in developing and enforcing departmental policies, rules, and regulations regarding patient information, payments, records, and forms.
• Skills in situational leadership and team management.
• Understanding of general accounting principles.
• Knowledge of HIS and Epic EHR is strongly preferred.
• RHIT or RHIA certification is highly preferred.
