This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia.

We collaborate with campaigns, nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and initiatives focused on racial justice, climate action, privacy and technology policy, immigration rights, and economic justice.
• We’re seeking a creative and motivated design intern to join our innovative team for FALL 2026 (from August 24 to November 13, 2026).
• As a graphic design intern at Middle Seat, you will work closely with our design team to create impactful visuals for real campaigns and causes. Your tasks will include designing social media graphics, digital advertisements, print materials, branding assets, and more.
• You will be encouraged to infuse your own creative perspective while learning to collaborate in a fast-paced political design setting.
• This position is available either in-person at our Washington, D.C. office or remotely. This role is not included in the bargaining unit.
• You will gain experience in:
• Designing graphics for emails, social media, and digital advertisements
• Applying brand guidelines to both new and existing creative projects
• Creating simple animations (GIFs, video loops) and editing video clips
• Assisting with print materials such as flyers, proposals, and direct mail
• Supporting the creative team on larger design initiatives including identity design and web graphics
• Receiving and applying feedback from designers, strategists, and clients
• Collaborating with strategists, developers, and fellow creatives to produce cross-platform assets
• You are enthusiastic about utilizing design to promote progressive change.
• You enjoy tackling visual challenges and thinking innovatively.
• You are proficient with tools such as Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva.
• You have a keen eye for detail, are receptive to feedback, and are eager to learn.
• You are a senior in your final year of an undergraduate program or a recent graduate.
• It would be beneficial if you:
• Have experience in design for advocacy, nonprofit, or political projects.
• Are familiar with Adobe After Effects or other motion design tools.
• Know how to edit short videos using After Effects or Premiere Pro.
• Have a basic understanding of accessibility in design.
• Are interested in UX/UI or web design.
• It is essential that you:
• Are dedicated to working for progressive political candidates and causes.
• Are a collaborative team player.
• Stay informed on current events, particularly regarding the U.S. political system and key progressive issues.
• Are able to commit to full-time (40-hour work week) or near full-time availability with consistent weekly hours.
• Are residing in the United States.
• We offer a competitive salary of $23 per hour.
