Global Solutions Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Africa.

📋 Description

• Design and execute a data warehouse and federated collection architecture; create a cohesive global data model; lead integration design across internal systems and partnerships with vendors.

• Direct the transition from paper, Excel, and disparate platforms (such as CommCare and KoboToolbox) to a cohesive, field-optimized data collection system that supports near-real-time data capture and legacy data management.

• Develop and establish a global Business Intelligence stack (primarily utilizing open-source solutions), facilitating self-service reporting across all divisions.

• Function as the Global Systems Administrator; oversee security, data privacy, and compliance with data residency regulations; ensure 99.9% uptime and adherence to both local and international data protection laws.

• Assist in the responsible prototyping and integration of automation and AI/ML tools into data workflows, aligning with StrongMinds' AI governance framework.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.

• Over 6 years of experience in software engineering, systems architecture, or technical leadership roles.

• Extensive experience with end-to-end data pipelines, data models, and warehouse architecture.

• Advanced skills in SQL, Python, and ETL/automation workflows.

• Practical experience with CommCare, KoboToolbox, and/or DHIS2.

• Demonstrated success in modernizing legacy or fragmented systems into integrated digital ecosystems.

• Strong understanding of systems administration, networking, and cybersecurity principles.

• Experience with data privacy, security, and compliance by design.

• Proven ability to deploy digital solutions in low- and middle-income countries or resource-constrained environments.
