GCP Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Design and develop robust data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes utilizing Google Cloud Platform services, such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.

• Construct and enhance cloud-based data warehouses and data lakes, ensuring data quality, security, and accessibility.

• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in Python or Java for the transformation and processing of large-scale datasets.

• Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to comprehend requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

• Implement best practices in data modeling and maintain thorough data documentation along with metadata management.

• Monitor and troubleshoot the performance of data pipelines, identifying bottlenecks and applying optimization strategies.

• Engage in code reviews and contribute to the continuous enhancement of data engineering practices and standards.

• Manage version control using Git and apply CI/CD practices for data infrastructure deployments.

• Support data governance initiatives, ensuring adherence to data quality and security standards.

• Communicate effectively with distributed teams and offer technical guidance on data engineering solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Data Engineer with practical expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Strong command of SQL and data modeling for intricate analytical requirements.

• Solid programming capabilities in Python or Java.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines.

• Familiarity with BigQuery or comparable cloud data warehousing solutions.

• Understanding of distributed computing concepts and data architecture patterns.

• Knowledge of version control systems (Git) and collaborative development methodologies.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

• Ability to work effectively in a nearshore, distributed team environment.
