Fullstack Engineer

Posted Jun 20

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design and implement microservices along with event-driven workflows to connect Koalafi's systems with a third-party loan servicing platform.

• Develop and manage REST APIs that facilitate loan origination, payment processing, and customer service functions.

• Collaborate with existing internal services at the intersection of the NPIL product and current Koalafi systems — reviewing unfamiliar code, comprehending its purpose, and executing clean, well-defined modifications.

• Create frontend components using React/TypeScript to support both customer-facing applications and internal tools as required.

• Write code that is not only testable and observable but also durable — focusing on quality rather than just delivery.

• Collaborate closely with the Tech Lead on system design and integration architecture.

• Work in partnership with Product and Compliance teams to grasp requirements and convert them into dependable, compliant implementations.

• Engage in code reviews — providing and receiving feedback with the aim of enhancing quality, rather than merely fulfilling a requirement.

• Actively participate in sprint ceremonies: planning, retrospectives, and standups — contributing to the team's overall cadence, not just your individual tasks.

• Establish monitoring and alerting at integration points to ensure issues are detected before they affect customers.

• Assist with audit logging and data reconciliation necessities inherent to a regulated financial product.

• Proactively identify and highlight technical risks early on — delivering bad news sooner is preferable to later.

• Utilize AI development tools to enhance speed and maintain consistency with team practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–4 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Practical experience in developing backend services using Golang.

• Proficient in REST APIs, HTTP/JSON patterns, API authentication methods including bearer tokens and OAuth flows, and API testing tools like Postman and HTTPPIe.

• Experience in building or contributing to frontend applications, preferably with React/TypeScript.

• Knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, and cloud-native deployment strategies.

• Familiarity with observability concepts and tools such as Dynatrace.

• Understanding of AGILE/Scrum methodologies, ceremonies, and JIRA.

• Strong testing instincts — unit, integration, and contract testing are integral to your approach.

• Ability to navigate and contribute to unfamiliar codebases — not limited to greenfield projects.

• Excellent communication skills: capable of articulating what you're building and why, not merely how.

🏝️ Benefits

• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.

• 20 days of paid time off (PTO) plus 11 paid holidays.

• 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions.

• Student loan assistance and tuition reimbursement.

• Commuter benefits.

• Parental leave (both maternal and paternal).

• Programs for inclusion and associate engagement.
