Full-Stack Web Developer, Developer III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Guatemala.

📋 Description

• Design, enhance, test, deploy, document, and maintain software applications across the complete technology stack, which encompasses frontend, backend, database, server, networking, and solution architecture elements.

• Offer application development services and technical support for existing systems as well as new technology implementations.

• Collect business requirements and convert them into scalable technical solutions and specifications.

• Create, develop, analyze, and modify application logic to fulfill business requirements, assessing solution alternatives and suggesting effective methods.

• Write maintainable code, formulate and execute test plans, debug and troubleshoot issues, and ensure adherence to software development standards.

• Support and enhance cloud-based and third-party applications throughout their lifecycle, ensuring reliability, performance, security, and alignment with business objectives.

• Formulate technology strategies and enact improvements across applications, integrations, and business processes.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on application systems, data processes, integrations, and governance of data.

• Take ownership of assigned tasks from start to finish by estimating effort, delivering tested and reviewed solutions, and communicating progress, risks, and obstacles.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools responsibly, adhering to organizational policies.

• Mentor and coach software developers through code reviews, providing technical guidance, sharing knowledge, and engaging in collaborative problem-solving.

• Partner with development teams and stakeholders across the United States, Brazil, and Latin America.

• Interact with users and business partners to address software issues, gather requirements, and provide new functionality.

• Transform business and user requirements into technical implementations and integrate feedback from code reviews and quality assurance.

• Contribute to and enhance software engineering standards, methodologies, and technical best practices.

• Advocate for child protection by incorporating safeguarding considerations into daily activities and adhering to Compassion’s policies and Code of Conduct.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• At least 5 years of professional experience in full-stack web development.

• Proficient frontend development skills utilizing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Familiarity with PHP/Laravel, APIs, databases, and backend technologies.

• Capability to design, develop, and implement comprehensive software solutions.

• Strong knowledge of servers, networking, and application architecture.

• Experience in conducting and participating in code reviews.

• Ability to articulate technical decisions and communicate project status, risks, and outcomes.

• Proven ownership, accountability, and self-management skills.

• Experience in mentoring or coaching other developers.

• Strong collaboration skills and experience working with distributed teams.

• Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish.

• Ability to utilize AI-assisted development tools responsibly while maintaining full ownership of delivered solutions.

• Equivalent education, training, experience, and/or certification may substitute for minimum qualifications.
