Frontend Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design and development of scalable, high-performance user interfaces utilizing React and contemporary frontend technologies.

• Define the technical direction for frontend architecture, state management, data flow, and component design.

• Create intricate workflows and UI components for data-intensive, operational applications.

• Develop interfaces that facilitate real-time data, situational awareness, and informed decision-making for operators.

• Directly contribute to implementation while guiding the team through technical trade-offs and execution.

• Mentor frontend engineers and elevate the technical standards across the team.

• Lead code reviews, design discussions, sprint planning, and technical planning for frontend initiatives.

• Assist in translating ambiguous product and technical requirements into clear execution strategies.

• Advocate for engineering best practices concerning performance, testing, maintainability, accessibility, and reliability.

• Collaborate with engineering leadership to foster team growth, hiring, onboarding, and professional development.

• Integrate frontend systems with backend services through REST, GraphQL, and real-time data interfaces.

• Optimize rendering performance for large datasets, map-based views, streaming data, and real-time updates.

• Ensure responsive and reliable performance across various devices, browsers, and operating environments.

• Identify and rectify frontend performance bottlenecks throughout the platform.

• Own and advance the frontend architecture, including state management, data flow, build tools, testing strategies, and component organization.

• Develop and maintain reusable component libraries, design systems, and shared UI patterns.

• Ensure frontend systems are scalable, maintainable, testable, and easily extendable by other engineers.

• Establish patterns that accommodate multiple products, mission workflows, and customer-facing applications.

• Promote technical consistency across frontend codebases and applications.

• Collaborate with backend, platform, autonomy, product, and design teams to deliver comprehensive features.

• Work in conjunction with UX/design teams to ensure high-quality implementations and operator-centered user experiences.

• Convert complex operational requirements into intuitive and reliable frontend workflows.

• Engage with stakeholders to balance speed, usability, performance, and technical excellence.

• Represent frontend engineering in product planning, architecture reviews, and roadmap discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of frontend engineering experience, including a track record of leading frontend projects or teams.

• Profound expertise in React and modern JavaScript or TypeScript.

• Demonstrated experience in building data-driven, high-performance web applications.

• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, state management, data flow, and performance enhancement.

• Experience working with APIs, asynchronous data flows, and real-time or frequently updating information.

• Proven experience in developing reusable component libraries, design systems, or shared UI frameworks.

• Capability to mentor engineers, facilitate technical discussions, and promote frontend best practices.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and design teams.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven, and highly collaborative setting.

• Strong sense of ownership, technical judgment, and a readiness to remain hands-on.
