Forward-Deployed Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.

📋 Description

• In the role of a Forward-Deployed Engineer at Caplena, you will operate at the intersection of engineering and customer engagement.

• You are a proactive technical problem-solver responsible for developing integrations, data flows, and tools that enable customers to go live and thrive.

• This position is predominantly technical, yet includes a significant customer-facing aspect.

• Your week will be primarily spent dealing with data, coding, and debugging, along with a substantial portion dedicated to direct interactions with customers and collaboration with our Customer Success and Product teams.

• You will serve as the technical link between customer requirements and product capabilities.

• Your contributions will have a direct effect on the speed at which customers launch, their success in utilizing Caplena, and the efficiency of our teams in supporting and scaling customer success.

• Build and sustain customer integrations along with the related tools.

• Enhance internal backend and data workflows to expedite and expand Customer Success and customer operations.

• Develop code that transforms repetitive manual setups into reusable, self-service, or automated solutions.

• Take ownership of the technical success of customers from the onboarding phase through to long-term usage.

• Lead the technical onboarding process: handling integrations, data imports, configuration, and initial data validation and quality checks.

• Troubleshoot customer issues such as data configuration challenges, integration errors, and unexpected behaviors.

• Reproduce and diagnose issues, collaborating with the Product team to resolve fundamental bugs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Python — capable of writing, debugging, and deploying code independently, not just reading it.

• Strong SQL skills — comfortable crafting queries, joins, and aggregations against real datasets.

• Excellent data manipulation abilities — adept at cleaning, transforming, and structuring messy real-world datasets.

• Practical experience with APIs and integrations — including REST, webhooks, authentication flows (e.g., OAuth) — along with building and debugging them.

• A genuine willingness and capacity to engage directly with customers, including enterprise stakeholders.

• A patient, empathetic, service-oriented approach and the ability to clearly communicate technical topics.

• Fluent in professional written and spoken English.

• Must be located in the EU or Switzerland.
