Forward Deployed Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Manage 1–4 simultaneous migration projects from start to finish: including scoping, planning, execution, and customer handoff.

• Serve as the main point of contact for customers: conduct weekly check-ins, manage stakeholder expectations, and proactively escalate risks before they escalate further.

• Set up Datafold's Migration Agent and supervise the execution of migrations.

• Collaborate with Datafold's engineering team to carry out migrations.

• Assist in refining and expanding our product and delivery playbook as the team evolves.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–6 years of experience in data consulting, professional services, or a customer-facing data engineering position.

• Exceptional communication skills — equally adept at executive check-ins and technical design discussions.

• Strong understanding of the modern data stack: dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, orchestration tools, and key patterns (stored procedures, streaming, incremental processing).

• A mentality of extreme ownership — you identify, report, and resolve issues while rallying the team to assist without prompting.

• Proficient AI user — utilizing AI on a daily basis and continuously seeking to learn and enhance its effective use.

• Familiarity with legacy data stacks and patterns (ETL, stored procedures, etc.) along with experience in data platform migration projects is a significant advantage.
