• Cultivate sources, analyze social media, and research public records to discover and pitch unique story ideas.

• Collaborate with our video and audience teams to create and film food videos for Instagram and TikTok as needed.

• Contribute to the Chronicle’s broader Bay Area restaurant news coverage in the Food + Wine section when necessary.

• Work jointly with various teams, including audience, photography, data, and design.

• A minimum of two years’ experience in a daily newspaper, magazine, or web publication as a reporter and/or editor, or equivalent experience.

• Proven proficiency in reporting and writing, showcasing strong news judgment.

• Capability to swiftly respond to breaking news while managing multiple projects with varying deadlines.

• Skill in producing sophisticated, impactful features grounded in original, long-term reporting and insightful analysis.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with all newsroom teams and adapt to a dynamic news environment.

• Enthusiasm for business reporting and a deep passion for the food and restaurant sector.
