
Food Commitments Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee projects and initiatives related to food systems priorities within the framework of supply chain transformation and strategies for climate mitigation and resilience.
• Advocate for and assist health care organizations in adopting food purchasing and service commitments that further climate action.
• Manage health care commitment initiatives, including the Coolfood pledge, the US Food Waste Pact, and values-based food purchasing commitments.
• Create, revise, and enhance how-to guides, toolkits, checklists, webinars, and other resources.
• Collaborate with Practice Greenhealth partners to implement best practices in food purchasing, menus, and food service operations.
• Engage with hospital staff, health professionals, food supply chain stakeholders, community food system partners, and allied organizations.
• Design and carry out collective actions that address climate mitigation, resilience, and equity.
• Formulate annual workplans and execute strategies that support program objectives.
• Assist in fundraising efforts and nurture relationships with funders.
• Establish and maintain relationships with food supply chain stakeholders, external partners, and coalitions.
• Provide guidance to hospital partners, address barriers, and devise solutions.
• Create presentations, resources, tools, and other promotional and implementation materials.
• Plan, facilitate, produce, edit, and deliver presentations, articles, blogs, press releases, newsletters, reports, webinars, and content for the CleanMed conference.
• Coordinate contracts and Memorandums of Understanding, managing project partnerships effectively.
• Engage in budgeting, work planning, grant development, strategic planning, and program evaluation.
• Keep records of partner activities and contacts in organizational databases and file management systems.
• A minimum of a BA or BS; a combination of experience and education may be accepted.
• At least 3 years of project coordination experience within a nonprofit, government, consulting, or health care environment.
• Background or expertise in food systems, nutrition, public health, and/or health care operations.
• Understanding of climate change issues and their effects on health.
• Proven knowledge of the relationship between climate change and food systems.
• Capability to implement annual workplans and manage time effectively.
• Strong collaborative skills for working across the organization.
• Ability to work autonomously, maintain organization, and track, measure, and accomplish project goals.
• Experience in managing relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in developing and executing advocacy campaigns, educational content, and organizing events.
• Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Drive, and Google Documents.
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn Slack.
• Relevant graduate studies and/or certifications are preferred.
• Over 4 years of experience in institutional food purchasing, health care food service, and/or sustainability and equity in food systems is preferred.
• Experience with matrix organizations, multiple teams, virtual organizations, nonprofit advocacy, or membership-based organizations is preferred.
• Time-limited role until September 30, 2027.
• Exempt status.
