Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Install, maintain, and service ZEISS 3D Tomography Inspection & Metrology and Mask Shop Solutions systems.

• Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshoot problems, and perform complex repairs.

• Act as the primary on-site contact for customers in Japan, ensuring exceptional service delivery.

• Coordinate service activities and keep customers and global ZEISS teams updated on equipment status.

• Oversee spare parts inventory, including ordering and returns.

• Timely document all service activities, reports, and quality updates.

• Assist with installation and service requirements by collaborating with experts in Germany and the U.S.

• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying solutions and enhancing service processes.

• Create and deliver training for local teams in Japan.

• Serve as a key liaison among teams in Japan, Germany, and the U.S.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Optics, or Mechatronics is preferred, but not essential; 5 years of relevant industry experience in optics or mechatronics may be accepted as a substitute.

• Strong customer orientation with a commitment to flexibility regarding service hours.

• Capability to read and comprehend electrical or mechanical engineering documents and schematics.

• Technical experience in the semiconductor industry is required.

• Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

• Ability to work independently, possess a strong hands-on mentality, and assert oneself effectively.

• Experience in the optics industry is preferred.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.

• Proficiency in spoken and written Japanese.

• Familiarity with Windows operating environments and word processing and/or email applications, as well as databases or CRM systems.
