Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Travel to customer locations throughout Ireland, and occasionally across Europe to install, service, update, and repair Thermo Fisher SUT hardware and automation products.

• Deliver expert technical support and problem-solving for our innovative bioproduction equipment.

• Execute installations, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of high-value analytical instruments.

• Conduct commissioning and qualification of equipment by employing Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and Installation/Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ) Protocols.

• Merge technical expertise with exceptional customer service skills to tackle complex issues and assist our customers in achieving significant breakthroughs.

• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve customer issues and enhance processes.

• Provide foundational product training and technical assistance regarding our instrumentation to both customers and the internal Sales team.

• Document all activities on the Sales Force Service desk, relaying customer feedback to management, as well as hardware and software teams.

• Contribute to optimizing revenue and exploring new product development opportunities; assist in demonstrating our products to prospective customers.

• Maintain technical proficiency by participating in training sessions, employee meetings, and staying informed on new products, markets, customers, and competitors.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Biomedical or a related scientific field) or an equivalent qualification.

• Advanced Degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.

• Demonstrated experience in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing sophisticated analytical instruments, especially in the bioproduction sector.

• Strong electronics and mechanical skills with the capability to diagnose issues at the component level.

• Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Fluency in English is required.

• Proven problem-solving skills and analytical thinking abilities.

• Proficient with Windows operating systems, MS Office, and service management software.

• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and documentation.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel 50-100% of the time.

• Physical capability to lift up to 25 kg and stand for extended durations.

• Experience with bioproduction equipment, particularly Single Use Technology (SUT) hardware and automation products.

• Availability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency service calls.

• Strong organizational skills with effective time management abilities.

• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently in the field.

• Willingness to support the entire EMEA region as the role evolves.

• Self-sufficient and comfortable working autonomously; logical in prioritizing tasks.
