This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Conduct tests, troubleshoot, and repair instruments and equipment down to the Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) level.
• Assess intricate situations and utilize independent judgment for problem resolution.
• Analyze historical repairs on analytical laboratory instruments to diagnose and resolve new, highly complex issues.
• Assemble and disassemble instruments and equipment as needed.
• Assist in the pre-staging of instruments to guarantee full functionality prior to the transfer to Sales Inventory.
• Execute electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, programmable logic controller, liquid, gas, fluidics, and electrical repairs related to analytical laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Deliver on-the-job training in the field for Field Service Engineers regarding proper preventive maintenance, calibration, and service methods for analytical laboratory instruments.
• Oversee upgrade release activities, including calibration and configuration of analytical laboratory instruments.
• Track personal inventory levels to ensure sufficient parts and supplies are available; if necessary, place orders for supplies in accordance with company protocols.
• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering/Technology (or equivalent qualification).
• Several years of experience in servicing and repairing analytical laboratory instruments.
• Proven capability to work independently and handle multiple priorities effectively.
• Comprehension of crucial customer experience factors and after-sales service.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in customer-facing situations.
• Attentive to detail and capable of working collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
• Strong time management abilities, emphasizing effective scheduling, prioritization, delegation, and skillfully managing competing demands.
• Proficient in both written and spoken Japanese and English.
• Willingness to travel as needed within the APAC region to excel in this field-based role, with travel expected to be at least 65% of the time.
