This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Farsi Video-Telephone Interpreter is tasked with managing on-demand calls and conveying the essence of discussions between Farsi and English speakers.
• This role bridges communication gaps across various sectors that LanguageLine Solutions serves, including Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.
• The interpreter processes information swiftly and accurately while being aware of significant cultural nuances.
• Maintaining professionalism and courtesy at all times, the interpreter employs appropriate terminology and is knowledgeable about common industry practices and procedures.
• Respond promptly to video and audio interpreting sessions, ensuring that interpretations are conducted in a friendly and professional manner.
• Engage in online, video, and audio training sessions.
• Provide interpretation services via video while efficiently typing information on a designated device like a laptop, desktop computer, mobile phone, or tablet to fulfill job requirements.
• Accurately convey concepts and meanings in alignment with established interpretation protocols, ensuring no omissions or additions occur.
• Articulate clearly in both languages, utilizing correct pronunciation, enunciation, and courteous expressions.
• Uphold a professional demeanor throughout all video and audio interpreting sessions.
• Maintain composure during interpreting sessions, especially if one of the primary speakers becomes incoherent or distressed, particularly in emergency scenarios such as 911 calls.
• Exhibit punctuality and availability during designated working hours.
• Adhere to client instructions, following protocol to meet client expectations with the Limited English-speaking Person (LEP), refraining from interacting with the LEP without the client’s consent.
• Recognize the protocols and terminology pertinent to various industries, including but not limited to Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
• Proficiency in both Farsi and English, along with an understanding of the related cultural dynamics.
• Capability to provide cultural competence and evaluate regional and accent differences to facilitate communication with the LEP.
• Strong listening, retention, and note-taking abilities to ensure a high degree of accuracy during interpretation.
• Capacity to focus, remain neutral and objective throughout conversations, and stay composed during discussions involving sensitive topics like end-of-life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and issues surrounding sexual orientation and/or gender expression.
• Preferred educational background or professional experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation.
• Ability to adapt to any LLS technological advancements aimed at enhancing service delivery and meeting client expectations.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
