Facility Inpatient Coding Audit Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough audits of inpatient facility coding, focusing on MS-DRGs, ICD-10-CM/PCS, POA indicators, discharge disposition, and quality measures.

• Verify clinical documentation to ensure accurate code assignment and adherence to regulatory standards.

• Recognize coding trends, identify reimbursement opportunities, and assess compliance risks.

• Offer education and constructive feedback to coding professionals based on audit results.

• Uphold audit quality and production standards while facilitating process enhancements.

• Generate and allocate daily audit batches, ensuring balanced workloads for the team.

• Oversee audit production, turnaround times, and adherence to quality standards.

• Act as the primary escalation point for inquiries related to audits and operational challenges.

• Train, onboard, mentor, and guide auditors.

• Execute biannual Auditor Technical Assessments and assist with performance evaluations.

• Compile audit reports, productivity metrics, and quality dashboards for leadership review.

• Collaborate with operational leadership to enhance workflows and establish best practices.

• Promote teamwork and collaboration among remote and global audit teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification required.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in inpatient facility coding auditing.

• Strong preference for candidates with previous experience in leading, mentoring, or serving as a senior resource for coding auditors.

• Outpatient facility auditing experience is preferred.

• Experience in supporting remote and/or offshore coding teams is advantageous.

• Expected output of 2 charts per hour while fulfilling audit responsibilities.

• Must possess authorization to work in the United States.
