Evening and Weekend Reference Librarian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Offer reference and research assistance to students and faculty during evenings and weekends via the Library’s virtual communication and service platforms.

• Aid in the creation, evaluation, and upkeep of research guides, instructional resources, and library tutorials.

• Deliver library instruction and research support for academic programs and courses as required.

• Facilitate resource-sharing services, including help with unfulfilled or unresolved requests.

• Address library systems and electronic resource challenges, such as troubleshooting basic access issues and submitting or escalating support requests as necessary.

• Collaborate with library faculty and staff in resolving issues, enhancing services, developing policies, and engaging in other library initiatives.

• Take part in library meetings, programs, projects, and services as deemed appropriate for the role.

• Keep abreast of professional knowledge pertinent to reference services, information literacy, academic libraries, and emerging technologies in libraries.

• Adhere to University policies and procedures.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• MLS or an equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited program.

• Proficient in providing reference services to both students and faculty.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Support the University’s mission and comply with employee policies.

• Familiarity with the Springshare suite is preferred.

• Knowledge of current web authoring tools and standards is preferred.

• Understanding of ILS systems, particularly Ex Libris, is preferred.

• Experience with resource sharing or interlibrary loan is preferred.

• Awareness of current library reference trends and a commitment to learning about innovative trends in library reference services is preferred.
