Enterprise Storage and Backup Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Armenia.

📋 Description

• Manage and enhance enterprise storage and backup solutions across distributed environments.

• Provision storage, oversee integrations, and establish backup policies including scheduling, retention, and recovery processes.

• Monitor system health, capacity, and performance, proactively addressing bottlenecks.

• Troubleshoot issues throughout the stack (storage, SAN, backup, network) and guide incidents to resolution.

• Operate and enhance SAN environments utilizing Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and multipathing technologies.

• Manage and support storage arrays from multiple vendors (e.g., 3PAR, Dell, NetApp).

• Administer enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Avamar, Data Domain, NetBackup, Veeam).

• Collaborate with vendors for hardware lifecycle management and issue resolution.

• Contribute to infrastructure automation through scripting (Python, Ansible).

• Assist in the deployment of new storage and backup solutions as well as infrastructure upgrades.

• Create comprehensive technical documentation and operational runbooks.

• Engage in on-call rotations to ensure production reliability.

• Take ownership when necessary, including leading operations in the absence of team leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience managing enterprise storage and backup systems in complex environments.

• Extensive hands-on experience with multi-vendor storage arrays (HP 3PAR, Dell Compellent, NetApp).

• Strong knowledge of enterprise backup ecosystems (Avamar, Data Domain, NetBackup, Veeam).

• Comprehensive understanding of SAN technologies (Fibre Channel, VSAN, WWPN, NPIV, multipathing, iSCSI).

• Experience in troubleshooting SAN fabrics (Cisco MDS, Brocade).

• Proficient in replication, data protection, and recovery strategies.

• Comfortable working in distributed, high-availability environments.

• Possess a scripting/automation mindset (Python, Ansible, or similar).

• Strong debugging capabilities — you look beyond the symptoms.

• Familiar with ITIL or structured service management frameworks.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and time zones.
