Engineering Squad Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Assume complete responsibility for one of Lago's key domains: delivering shipping features, ensuring production stability, and coordinating the team.

• Share technical leadership with the Staff Engineer.

• Remain actively involved: conduct code reviews, prototype solutions, and contribute to essential project paths.

• Uphold code quality and review standards within the team.

• Manage the code health of your designated domain.

• Facilitate sprint planning, maintain workflow, and assist engineers in overcoming obstacles.

• Prepare the team for biweekly product demonstrations.

• Serve as the main engineering liaison for Product.

• Oversee production health for your squad's domain.

• Monitor dashboards, address alerts, and resolve incidents.

• Lead a squad of up to 10 engineers.

• Conduct operational one-on-ones, provide feedback, and communicate performance indicators to the Head of Engineering.

• Establish and refine the squad's operational practices to promote engineering excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience, preferably with 2 to 3 years in a Squad or Tech Lead role.

• Strong expertise in backend systems and production environments.

• Proven history of delivering reliable, high-quality software in a dynamic product-focused company.

• Comfortable navigating complex technical fields: distributed systems, APIs, data integrity, or related areas.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Experience managing production responsibilities: incident response, monitoring, on-call duties, and SLA management.

• Recent experience with a Ruby on Rails codebase.
