This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop the complete platform from the ground up, automating administrative tasks that take up attorneys' time, such as intake processes, document creation, matter management, billing, and client interactions.

• Maintain a high standard for code quality, security, and dependability in a setting where your work involves sensitive client information and regulated legal practices.

• Collaborate directly with attorneys and the Founding Partner to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions; you serve as the bridge between legal practice and platform development.

• Take ownership of the technical architecture, making decisions that will have long-term implications: how data is stored and transferred, how Jay integrates with legal systems, and how AI is reliably deployed in a regulated landscape.

• Spearhead the design of the AI and LLM layer, encompassing document generation, evaluation frameworks, and the feedback mechanisms that enhance the system over time.

• Create the client-facing features: how households discover Jay, onboard, and maintain engagement over time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient full-stack engineer who produces clean, maintainable code and is passionate about integrating diverse systems through APIs, webhooks, and data synchronization.

• Resourceful and adaptable: you deliver MVPs, collect feedback, and iterate swiftly. You believe that completing a task is better than achieving perfection. You thrive in uncertain environments without detailed specifications: engaging with users, understanding their needs, and developing solutions.

• Capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and translating their requirements into functional code.

• Motivated by the prospect of providing ordinary individuals with access to outstanding legal representation and eager to be part of something significant from its inception.

• Excellent team player who fosters and contributes to a positive and collaborative work culture.

• Preferred: experience with AI/LLM applications, RAG systems, or semantic search; background in law or a regulated sector; previous experience in a startup environment.
