• Assist in evaluating potential data center development opportunities from Gate 0 through early Gate 2, ensuring that energy considerations are incorporated early in the decision-making process.
• Formulate initial site-level power strategies to examine feasibility, delivery timelines, scalability, and risks prior to site progression.
• Analyze utility power availability, substation capacity, interconnection routes, infrastructure constraints, and delivery schedules across targeted markets.
• Identify critical flaws, gating risks, essential assumptions, and mitigation strategies related to power feasibility and readiness.
• Actively seek and evaluate powered land opportunities and power-ready sites before formal site selection processes begin.
• Collaborate closely with Market Development and Site Selection teams to ensure that power feasibility guides market entry and site pursuit strategies.
• Contribute to the development of market-level energy strategies by providing insights into regional utility dynamics, grid limitations, and regulatory factors.
• Engage directly with utilities, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and other external stakeholders during preliminary, non-contractual discussions.
• Collect and verify external inputs regarding capacity availability, infrastructure needs, cost considerations, regulatory stance, and delivery timelines.
• Work alongside Energy Planning, regional project teams, and internal experts to finalize early-stage energy strategies.
• Facilitate structured transitions of energy strategies, assumptions, and risk assessments as projects move into downstream execution teams.
• Create clear, executive-level materials that summarize power feasibility, risks, trade-offs, and strategic suggestions.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership to aid in informed investment and prioritization decisions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy, Economics, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• 7–10 years of experience in energy strategy, power infrastructure, or energy-related development roles.
• Proven experience in supporting early-stage strategy, feasibility assessments, or development planning, rather than project execution.
• Prior experience within electric utilities, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), energy or infrastructure development, economic or business development supporting large-scale infrastructure, data centers, or other large-load environments, or natural gas power and generation facilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of utility service models, grid infrastructure, interconnection concepts, and power delivery constraints.
• Ability to function effectively in early-stage, ambiguous environments with incomplete or evolving information.
• Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to convert technical inputs into business-relevant insights.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create executive-ready materials.
• Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and documentation discipline.
• Capability to collaborate across functions and influence outcomes without direct authority.
• Expected travel of up to 25-30%, which may increase over time as the business evolves.
