This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Develop, implement, and oversee staff development, orientation, and annual competency programs specific to sterile processing.
• Create and coordinate educational, competency, and training programs aimed at standardizing sterile processing operations.
• Manage supplies, equipment, and instrumentation, which includes cleaning, sterilization, and preparation of surgical packs.
• Design and deliver curricula on sterile processing techniques and regulations.
• Collaborate with perioperative nursing, clinic QA liaisons, and infection preventionists regarding sterilization and high-level disinfection practices.
• Design, implement, and oversee educational programs focusing on decontamination, instrument assembly, and sterilization.
• Serve as a liaison for clinics and areas engaged in sterilization and high-level disinfection.
• Develop action plans aimed at reducing surgical site infections.
• Facilitate orientation for new staff and provide ongoing education.
• Collect and analyze statistical data on the progress and success of educational programs.
• Participate in infection prevention rounds.
• Create and standardize assessments for skills related to instrument and equipment processing.
• Monitor the progress of staff orientation and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee instrument tracking reports and event reporting systems.
• Conduct root cause analyses and propose resolutions for identified deficiencies.
• Develop training materials and infection prevention monitoring programs.
• Prepare reports and represent sterile processing practices at monthly infection prevention committee meetings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Health Care Management along with 2 years of supervisory experience in a hospital setting is required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• CCST (Certified Central Service Technician) certification is required within 180 days, or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech) certification must be obtained within 180 days.
• Strong knowledge of sterile processing techniques and regulations is essential.
• Experience with decontamination, instrument assembly, sterilization, and high-level disinfection is necessary.
• Proven experience in developing and delivering education, competency, orientation, and training programs.
• Experience in collecting and interpreting statistical data and quality performance reports is required.
• Familiarity with infection prevention practices, ATP testing, immediate-use sterilization tracking, and reducing surgical site infections is important.
• Experience in conducting root cause analyses and creating corrective action plans is necessary.
• Ability to monitor instrument tracking and event reporting systems is essential.
