Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sri Lanka.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and maintain AL extensions, which encompass tables, pages, codeunits, report layouts, and associated objects.

• Customize Business Central solutions that go beyond standard configurations and custom fields.

• Provide solutions that adhere to established architecture, coding standards, commenting, and documentation practices.

• Prioritize the use of standard functionality, configuration options, and appropriate AppSource extensions when custom development is unnecessary.

• Construct and uphold the Business Central and AL components necessary for cross-system integrations.

• Create custom APIs, events, and interface logic in accordance with approved functional and technical specifications.

• Implement established authority rules, manage conflict-resolution processes, and adhere to error-handling requirements.

• Collaborate with developers working on connected platforms and services.

• Conduct thorough testing of all AL developments prior to release.

• Address defects revealed during code reviews, testing, or production usage.

• Maintain precise source control, versioning, and documentation of changes.

• Submit work for technical assessment and make necessary revisions.

• Clearly document customizations to ensure ongoing support and knowledge transfer.

• Continuously enhance expertise in Business Central and AL development.

• Gradually take on more complex and independent development tasks.

• Provide mentoring, technical guidance, and feedback to enhance the quality of delivery.

• Develop skills aimed at achieving a senior Business Central AL development role.

• Collaborate closely with functional consultants to grasp requirements, priorities, and acceptance criteria.

• Adhere to the technical direction provided by the Dynamics 365 Technical Lead.

• Contribute effectively both autonomously and as a member of the broader Dynamics 365 development team.

• Engage in sprint planning, work prioritization, and coordination of deliveries.

• Communicate progress, risks, and challenges clearly to relevant stakeholders.

• Create solutions that comply with established information security controls and governance requirements.

• Safeguard sensitive business systems, customer data, and security infrastructure.

• Ensure that development efforts are reliable, traceable, and compliant with approved standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or NAV AL development, or equivalent development experience demonstrating AL proficiency.

• Demonstrated experience in developing AL extensions, including tables, pages, codeunits, and report layouts.

• Familiarity with the Business Central data model, development patterns, and platform functionalities.

• Experience with Business Central integrations utilizing custom APIs, events, and interface logic.

• Knowledge of source control, versioning, and organized deployment practices.

• Experience in an industrial, field services, trades, or comparable operational setting will be highly valued.

• A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Relevant training in Business Central or AL will be advantageous.

• Microsoft MB-820 Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer certification, or a commitment to obtain it, will be positively regarded.

• Strong AL development skills across extensions, pages, codeunits, reports, and related Business Central objects.

• Good understanding of Business Central architecture and data structures.

• Ability to construct the Business Central component of cross-system integrations based on approved designs.

• Strong skills in testing, troubleshooting, and resolving defects.

• Understanding of coding, commenting, documentation, and source control standards.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to work accurately from specifications and respond constructively to feedback from code reviews.

• Strong self-management skills, accountability, and attention to detail.

• Willingness to seek mentorship and engage in increasingly complex tasks.
