Drug & Alcohol Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Counsel members on a weekly basis via text chat, video calls, and phone calls to track their recovery journey progress.

• Conduct user onboarding through an initial phone call and complete a comprehensive assessment to collect pertinent behavioral health history and symptoms.

• Utilize Atlas, Pelago's AI-driven EHR, which automates session documentation, provides real-time evidence-based guidance during calls, and prepares clinical context prior to each session — allowing you to concentrate on member care rather than administrative tasks.

• Monitor member progress and suggest therapeutic strategies for managing cravings and temptations.

• Offer support and encouragement to members to help them build and maintain motivation for changing their substance use behaviors.

• Collaborate with other departments to ensure a positive experience for all members and share valuable insights with the product development team.

• Maintain good standing with your active license(s)/certification(s).

• Participate in scheduled team meetings and/or case discussions.

• Make a meaningful impact on someone's life and their family's life through addiction recovery!

⛳️ Requirements

• Active California credential in good standing.

• Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I/II/III (CADC) or Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LAADC).

• Bachelor's degree.

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience providing CBT/behavioral support for substance use disorders (SUD).

• Proficient in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) coordination, and Relapse Prevention strategies.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary healthcare teams, including coaches, physicians, and nurses.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Flexible in fast-paced environments; capable of prioritizing multiple competing demands.

• Technologically savvy; quick to adapt to new tools and platforms.
