This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist attorneys and paralegals with the management of deadlines across various litigation cases.
• Conduct date calculations while adhering to jurisdictional regulations.
• Maintain the calendaring database and update court rule sets accordingly.
• Research and interpret laws and regulations, along with state and federal court rules, particularly in the jurisdictions in which we operate.
• Offer guidance on filing procedures for different courts and agencies.
• Review finalized court filings to ensure compliance with local, state, and/or federal court rules before submission.
• Prepare and electronically file time-sensitive legal documents with various state and federal trial and appellate courts.
• Investigate and report on submission processes for attorney admissions and appearances.
• Conduct research on potential witnesses, which may include skip tracing or other public record searches.
• Obtain Certificates of Good Standing for attorneys and keep track of relevant expiration dates.
• Organize and manage attorney admissions and renewals as necessary, including state bar admissions, federal court admissions, and all pro hac vice admissions.
• Organize and maintain attorney account credentials for CM/ECF and other electronic filing services (e.g., Odyssey).
• Assist with essential case docket audits.
• Collaborate with technical support staff of docketing software and court personnel to resolve any issues.
• Ensure quality control for all docket entries and oversee the distribution of regular docket and status reports.
• Coordinate messenger services for the delivery of legal documents and evidence as required.
• Work with other departments within the firm to create efficient procedures and communications to streamline processes.
• Collaborate with attorneys and Legal Support team members on various projects.
• Attend case-related meetings and training seminars within the Legal Support department.
• Address other ad hoc assignments as directed by the Docket Supervisor or Chief of Litigation Services.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
• Minimum of 2 years of litigation docketing experience in a law firm.
• Familiarity with state and federal procedures and court processes, including but not limited to Illinois, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Texas, Florida, and/or California.
• Knowledge of the federal courts’ CM/ECF system.
• Understanding of various state court filing systems (e.g., Odyssey).
• Available and willing to work overtime on nights and weekends when necessary.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt quickly to changes.
• Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Proven time management skills, with the capacity to meet time-sensitive deadlines and adjust to shifting priorities.
• Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Capable of maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion and sound judgment.
• Possess independent judgment and proactive problem-solving abilities.
