This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Direct all facets of the Company's global tax operations, encompassing income tax compliance, tax accounting, indirect taxes, transfer pricing, tax planning, and management of tax risks.
• Take full ownership of the quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740, which includes deferred taxes, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, analysis of effective tax rates, and financial statement disclosures.
• Supervise federal, state, local, and international tax compliance with the assistance of external advisors while retaining control over all tax filings and deadlines.
• Formulate the Company's commercial tax strategy to support product launches, covering indirect tax, state and local tax, tax issues related to inventory, distribution structures, and commercial contracts.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Market Access, Supply Chain, Legal, Treasury, and Accounting teams to assess tax implications of pricing, rebates, chargebacks, royalties, distribution agreements, licensing contracts, and other commercial transactions.
• Direct the strategy, documentation, and compliance related to transfer pricing for current and future international operations.
• Oversee R&D tax credits, orphan drug incentives, and other available tax benefits.
• Assist in financing transactions, collaborations, licensing, business development, acquisitions, restructurings, and other strategic initiatives.
• Act as the primary liaison for tax audits and collaborate with external auditors on tax accounting issues.
• Create scalable tax policies, SOX controls, documentation, and automation to support a growing public company.
• Keep abreast of changes in tax legislation and provide executive management with advice on business impacts.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation is required.
• A CPA certification is mandatory.
• A Master’s degree in Taxation (MST) or a JD/LLM (Tax) is preferred.
• 10–15 years of progressive corporate tax experience with increasing leadership responsibilities.
• Experience in public company biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences is strongly preferred.
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in Big Four or large public accounting firm tax roles.
• Experience in supporting transfer pricing, licensing transactions, financing activities, and international operations is essential.
• Extensive technical expertise in U.S. corporate taxation and ASC 740.
• Familiarity with the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry is necessary.
• Experience in supporting commercial product launches and the associated tax considerations is required.
• A solid understanding of transfer pricing, state and local tax, indirect tax, and concepts related to international tax is crucial.
• Thorough knowledge of SOX and internal controls regarding tax processes.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clarify complex tax issues to non-tax stakeholders.
• A strategic mindset paired with a hands-on approach to execution.
• High integrity and a strong commitment to ethical business practices.
• Experience with ERP systems (preferably NetSuite) and tax technology is desirable.
