Director of Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Direct the finance department by leading a team of 4, comprising 2 senior accountants and 2 analysts, ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and support for team success.

• Cultivate the relationship with our parent company, Coincheck Group N.V., by serving as the primary liaison with their finance department and facilitating regular meetings with their CFO and Controller.

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, including the review of financial statements and reporting packages, with a thorough analysis of variances to budget and key account balances.

• Review non-consolidated EWC calculations to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting.

• Manage and lead the year-end audit process, acting as the main point of contact for external auditors while ensuring the timely and accurate provision of all required materials.

• Supervise and coordinate corporate tax reporting, collaborating closely with external advisors to guarantee compliance and accuracy.

• Ensure the prompt and accurate completion of all regulatory, compliance, and internal reporting obligations.

• Manage and sustain essential banking relationships, including oversight of cash management and associated processes.

• Spearhead the implementation and enhancement of financial systems (including GL), guaranteeing adequate controls, documentation, and scalability.

• Promote process improvements and efficiencies while maintaining comprehensive documentation within Finance policies and procedures.

• Provide leadership and coverage across the Finance function, ensuring operational continuity and cross-training within the team.

• Deliver ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to assist senior leadership in decision-making.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of progressive experience in corporate accounting, ideally within the asset management or investment fund sectors.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline; CPA or equivalent designation is preferred.

• Extensive experience in leading or managing monthly financial reporting and closing processes.

• Proven track record in managing or supporting external audits and tax processes.

• Strong understanding of financial controls, reporting standards (IFRS/US GAAP), and compliance obligations.

• Highly collaborative, capable of functioning effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Exceptional attention to detail combined with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

• Confident communicator who actively seeks clarity and ensures alignment among stakeholders.
