This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Plan team capacity and recruitment: define roles, manage the hiring process, conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, and oversee onboarding procedures.
• Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-one sessions.
• Provide leadership oversight and manage performance for technical leads.
• Organize team-building initiatives.
• Manage personnel matters, including dismissals, promotions, leave authorizations, bonuses, and compensation.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, address performance-related issues, and develop Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
• Facilitate regular grooming sessions.
• Assign and track engineering tasks.
• Provide technical validation through code reviews, quality assessments, and release authorization; act as an escalation point for critical issues.
• Guide architectural design and make technical decisions for integration projects.
• Define and uphold team-wide engineering standards.
• Oversee infrastructure architecture and security for distributed systems that handle sensitive payroll, financial, and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data in SOC 2-compliant environments.
• Lead the design and implementation of systems for monitoring data quality to ensure payroll accuracy.
• Supervise project planning, execution, and ensure timely completion.
• Prioritize tasks, track improvements in business metrics, and identify potential blockers.
• Represent the engineering team in client-facing technical discussions.
• Telecommute/Work-From-Home within the U.S.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Aviation Technology, or a related technical field along with five years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or Backend Developer.
• Familiarity with PII compliance frameworks and secure coding principles.
• Proficiency in:
• Python development, distributed backend architecture, API design, and performance optimization.
• Relational databases.
• Major cloud platform deployment.
• Experience in:
• Designing authorized data extraction systems; including API reverse-engineering, browser automation, and anti-automation mitigation in compliant, user-authorized environments.
• Handling sensitive financial data.
• Implementing observability systems.
• Monitoring data quality with alerting mechanisms for production environments.
• Implementing data validation and verification techniques, including heuristic or statistical methods for cross-source data validation of financial information.
• Leading technical projects from design through to release.
• Establishing and enforcing engineering standards, code review workflows, and development best practices.
• Engaging in cross-functional collaboration to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Conducting technical interviews.
• Utilizing the Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP).
• Working with LLM-based autonomous agents and workflows for data processing.
