• Take ownership of the complete reconciliation and money movement domain, which encompasses ledgering logic, payout processes, and exception management.
• Gain an in-depth understanding of the flow of funds within the existing system — identifying the source of data, its transformation process, breakdown points, and underlying reasons.
• Transform a system rich in tribal knowledge into a well-documented, maintainable, and auditable operational model.
• Direct the architectural strategy for a sustainable solution to the post-capture payout calculation challenge, ensuring collaboration with both Finance and Engineering teams.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to design and execute scalable, precise, and robust reconciliation and ledgering systems.
• Act as the key intermediary between Finance and Engineering, ensuring both parties comprehend requirements, limitations, and implications.
• Establish product requirements, a strategic roadmap, and success metrics for reconciliation and money movement systems.
• Analyze and identify root causes of reconciliation discrepancies, facilitating cross-functional resolutions.
• Develop processes, controls, and reporting frameworks that enhance accuracy, transparency, and readiness for audits.
• Provide leadership, clarity, and guidance in a domain characterized by high levels of ambiguity and complexity.
• Experience at the director level in financial systems, payments technology, or a related field.
• Solid accounting and financial expertise — capable of understanding ledgers, settlement processes, and reconciliation logic.
• Profound knowledge of the movement of money through technical systems (capture → settlement → payout → ledgering).
• Experience in designing or managing financial or payment system architecture.
• Proficiency in diagnosing system-level problems, pinpointing failure points, and steering engineering towards effective, sustainable solutions.
• Outstanding communication abilities — capable of engaging credibly with both Finance and Engineering and facilitating translation between the two.
• Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives in environments with high ambiguity and significant business impact.
• Strong documentation skills and the capacity to convert tribal knowledge into organized, repeatable processes.
• Familiarity with payout systems, settlement engines, or payment processors. (Nice-to-Have)
• Experience in developing or modernizing ledgering systems. (Nice-to-Have)
• Knowledge of financial compliance, audit requirements, or SOX-related controls. (Nice-to-Have)
