This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +4 more states.
• Define and advance the principles, standards, and reference architectures for enterprise data architecture that align with business priorities and contemporary practices.
• Lead the creation and upkeep of enterprise conceptual, logical, and physical data structures, ensuring consistent definitions and shared semantics across the organization.
• Establish domain-oriented architectural patterns for reusable, governed data products and interoperable data flows.
• Develop architectural patterns that support both batch and streaming workloads, including event-driven methodologies and canonical representations.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to convert architectural and logical designs into scalable physical implementations on AWS cloud data platforms.
• Ensure consistent definitions of data, lineage, and metadata documentation across various domains by facilitating cataloging and lineage platforms.
• Maintain a central repository for architecture artifacts, definitions, and metadata documentation.
• Influence data design decisions across programs and projects through architecture reviews and the enforcement of standards.
• Conduct architecture and data design workshops with both business and technical stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data architects and specialists, ensuring consistent delivery of architectural outcomes.
• Stay updated on emerging architecture trends and assess their relevance to Deckers.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• 10 to 15 years of experience in data architecture roles, including leadership responsibilities.
• Extensive experience in designing and implementing architecture within cloud-based, modern data ecosystems.
• Experience in supporting large-scale data initiatives within the retail, consumer products, or similar industries is preferred.
• Familiarity with AWS data services such as S3, Redshift, Glue, and Lake Formation.
• Experience with data cataloging, metadata management, and lineage tracking platforms.
• Understanding of modern data formats and storage techniques, including Parquet, Iceberg, and Delta Lake.
• Deep expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data architecture across various technology stacks.
• Strong grasp of modern data architecture concepts such as data mesh, event-driven design, and data products.
• Ability to translate complex business needs into scalable and reusable architecture designs and standards.
• Excellent collaboration, facilitation, and influencing abilities across both technical and business teams.
