Director, AI Engagements

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the engagement strategy, establish success metrics and roadmaps, prioritize initiatives, and ensure accountability for outcomes and client relationships.

• Cultivate executive-level partnerships with General Counsels, Chief Operating Officers, and heads of legal operations.

• Convert AI advancements into actionable client strategies while gaining the trust of skeptical stakeholders.

• Set up systems, organize knowledge repositories, craft and enhance prompts, design testing scenarios, and verify outputs with actual data.

• Determine the engagement scope, staffing requirements, and sequencing in collaboration with engineers and delivery leads.

• Develop operating models for legal teams, covering processes, roles, and governance, while driving organizational change.

• Guide decisions on AI architecture and integration concerning APIs, data flows, security, and compliance.

• Contribute to shaping Harbor Labs' sales, delivery, recruitment, and strategic direction.

⛳️ Requirements

• Comprehensive ownership of engagements, programs, or functions, with accountability for outcomes.

• Proven experience in implementing significant changes in legal operations, professional services, or a similar setting.

• Extensive fluency in production AI, including RAG architectures, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and evaluation techniques.

• Current credentials from model providers; certifications from Anthropic Academy are highly regarded, and completion of OpenAI Academy coursework is beneficial.

• Proficiency in interpreting API documentation, understanding system architecture, and discussing engineering trade-offs.

• Capability to lead executive presentations, collaborative sessions, and discussions regarding scope and risk management.

• Practical, results-oriented approach to AI implementation and influencing client behavior changes.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguous and dynamic environments.

• Preferred: Experience in senior legal operations, legal technology, or transformation/innovation initiatives.

• Preferred: Leadership experience in client engagement within consulting or professional services.

• Preferred: Background in product companies focusing on product, solutions, or delivery leadership.

• Preferred: Direct experience with AI development tools and LLM APIs.
