DevOps Engineering Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

📋 Description

• Review the current Terraform state and familiarize yourself with Sarwa’s Infrastructure as Code philosophy.

• Set up a temporary Sandbox account within Sarwa’s AWS Organization, implementing core networking (VPC, Subnets) through Terraform to verify infrastructure portability across different accounts and regions.

• Engage in the DR Automation project, assisting in the automation of regional failover and promotion workflows.

• Develop and maintain automation scripts using boto3 for tasks that Infrastructure as Code cannot dynamically manage.

• Contribute to documentation by creating a detailed, code-backed DR Playbook that empowers any engineer to initiate a regional failover with confidence.

• Work closely with the backend and platform teams to guarantee that infrastructure modifications meet application requirements.

• Acquire knowledge and apply skills related to cross-region peering, multi-account routing, and EKS deployment management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related discipline.

• Possess basic experience with Git, Linux CLI, and have an understanding of the request/response cycle (how a user request reaches a database and returns).

• Eager to learn Terraform, AWS networking, and Kubernetes in a live production setting.

• Have a genuine passion for infrastructure automation, reliability engineering, and cloud architecture.

• Comfortable scripting in Python or Bash and willing to learn boto3 (AWS SDK).

• Exhibit strong problem-solving abilities and enjoy troubleshooting complex, multi-layered systems.

• Detail-oriented and understand the importance of precision in infrastructure.

• Communicate effectively and can document processes in a way that others can follow confidently.
