Data Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data processing systems in accordance with Oportun’s data architecture standards.

• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineering teams to integrate data solutions within applications, analytics platforms, and workflows.

• Develop and enhance ETL/ELT processes utilizing modern data platforms like Databricks.

• Write efficient and scalable code in Python and SQL for data transformation, validation, and ingestion.

• Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability through validation, monitoring, and testing methodologies.

• Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting data platforms by investigating pipeline failures and participating in root cause analysis.

• Automate repetitive data workflows to enhance efficiency and scalability across data operations.

• Contribute to the documentation of data pipelines, data models, and system architecture.

• Collaborate with governance and compliance teams to ensure that data practices align with organizational standards.

• Execute other engineering-related tasks and initiatives as assigned within the Data Engineering team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or other related technical roles.

• Strong expertise in SQL and Python programming for data processing and transformation tasks.

• Practical experience with Databricks or similar distributed data processing platforms (e.g., Spark).

• Foundational knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT concepts, and data warehousing principles.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and various data storage solutions.

• Familiarity with version control and collaboration tools such as GitHub, Jira, and Confluence.

• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities; capable of working with large datasets and optimizing performance.
