This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Support the USSOCOM POTFF program by identifying and executing innovative, high-impact solutions throughout the SOF enterprise.
• Conduct advanced data analytics, including data manipulation, data mining, exploratory, predictive, and statistical analysis.
• Utilize research methodologies and analytics to enhance the short- and long-term welfare of SOF service members and their families.
• Implement NLP and both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques to enhance relevance and personalization algorithms.
• Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and designers to design experiments and minimum viable products.
• Discover, access, import, clean, and prepare data for modeling purposes.
• Create and refine features derived from the underlying data.
• Execute A/B tests, analyze results statistically, and communicate the impacts of optimization.
• Enter, maintain, and analyze data within government systems.
• Develop and sustain dashboards that automate analysis and identify as well as present POTFF data trends.
• Assist in survey design and analyze and report survey findings.
• Advise supported units and POTFF staff on data collection opportunities and methodologies.
• Collaborate with POTFF program staff and the Government’s POTFF biostatistician.
• Provide expertise in program evaluation, research methodologies, and data analysis.
• Utilize statistical modeling and data visualization to identify trends, outliers, and patterns.
• Generate reports and presentations that communicate mission-relevant findings.
• A Master’s degree in quantitative science, social science, or a related field is required for the POTFF-specific qualifications.
• A B.S. or B.A. in a technical discipline is necessary.
• A minimum of 3 years of research experience in academic, social services, government, healthcare, or laboratory environments.
• At least 5 years of experience utilizing machine learning/deep learning frameworks and algorithms.
• A minimum of 5 years of data engineering experience with big data architectures and major cloud platforms.
• A minimum of 5 years programming experience in Python, Scala, or Julia.
• Active Secret clearance is required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
• Advanced proficiency with statistical software and programming tools such as SPSS, SAS, Python, and R Shiny.
• Proven advanced research skills.
• A documented record of scientific publications.
• Proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking.
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.
• Experience with cloud-based data storage and computational environments.
• Experience in deploying ML models using MLOps is advantageous.
• Experience with Agile delivery is a plus.
• Familiarity with Power BI is a plus.
• Certification or documented experience in human performance is preferred.
• Experience supporting Special Operations, athletics or sports programs, or military settings is preferred.
• Preferred technical and analytical skills in Power BI or Tableau, SQL, database management, predictive modeling, forecasting, and dashboard development.
