This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
β’ Develop, assess, and assist in the creation of machine learning models aimed at fraud detection; manage their continuous monitoring and retraining processes.
β’ Design and execute experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of fraud interventions, ensuring a balance between customer experience and loss mitigation.
β’ Analyze fraud typologies across our product offerings to guide prioritization and investment strategies.
β’ Create and sustain anomaly detection systems to identify new fraud vectors before they escalate.
β’ Collaborate closely with fraud operations, engineers, product managers, and data analysts to convert model outputs into actionable real-world solutions.
β’ A robust background in statistics with a degree in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field).
β’ Over 3 years of experience in data science, decision science, or risk analytics, particularly in the areas of fraud, payments, or financial crime.
β’ Practical experience in developing and deploying machine learning models within a production setting.
β’ Experience in fraud, risk, or financial services is highly advantageous.
β’ Strong understanding of data science principles: experimentation, statistical inference, model evaluation, and feature engineering.
β’ Ability to thrive in fast-paced, cross-functional teams with high expectations for ownership.
