This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.
• Develop, assess, and contribute to the production of machine learning models aimed at fraud detection; take charge of their continuous monitoring and retraining cycles.
• Design and conduct experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of fraud interventions, balancing customer experience with loss minimization.
• Evaluate fraud typologies across our product offerings to guide prioritization and investment strategies.
• Create and sustain anomaly detection systems to identify emerging fraud vectors before they proliferate.
• Collaborate closely with fraud operations, engineers, product managers, and data analysts to convert model outputs into actionable real-world solutions.
• A solid background in statistics, with a degree in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar).
• Over 3 years of experience in data science, decision science, or risk analytics within the domains of fraud, payments, or financial crime.
• Practical experience in constructing and deploying machine learning models in a production setting.
• Experience in fraud, risk, or financial services is a significant advantage.
• Strong understanding of data science principles: experimentation, statistical inference, model evaluation, and feature engineering.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, cross-functional teams with high ownership expectations.
