Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of well-defined and impactful problem areas within product and business sectors, guiding the process from question framing through analysis to implementation in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

• Design and assess experiments to evaluate the impact of product and strategic modifications.

• Examine product data to identify the underlying causes of metric fluctuations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to leverage data in informing product decisions.

• Contribute to the development of tools, methodologies, and frameworks that enhance data practices within the team and the organization.

• Establish measurements and metrics, design randomized controlled experiments, create visualizations, and reveal usage patterns and opportunities throughout Quora.

• Work across various domains including user growth, content quality, monetization, personalization, marketplace dynamics, and long-term strategic planning for the company.

⛳️ Requirements

• Availability for meetings and spontaneous communication from Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm Pacific Time.

• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an analytical or quantitative capacity, including at least 2 years as a Data Scientist or in a similar role.

• Capability to independently conduct data analyses that inform product or business strategies.

• Proficiency in statistical techniques such as regression, hypothesis testing, and causal inference.

• Ability to convert business requirements into analytical inquiries and articulate technical findings to cross-functional partners.

• Experience utilizing a procedural programming language like Python or R for data manipulation, modeling, and analysis.

• Comfort with working in a production codebase.

• Strong quantitative reasoning paired with product intuition and practical judgment.

• Preferred experience in evaluating experiments or recommender systems through offline analysis and online experimentation.

• Familiarity with large datasets and distributed computing tools such as Presto/Trino is preferred.

• Active user of Quora is preferred.

• Final candidates will be required to undergo identity verification and a thorough background check before onboarding.
