This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and implement well-structured data engineering tasks, including the creation and modification of data models, writing ingestion scripts, and updating transformations in accordance with engineering standards.
• Manage data flow through PrizePicks' medallion lakehouse architecture: Landing-Bronze-Silver-Gold.
• Deploy, execute, and monitor data jobs and workflows, addressing failures by adhering to established runbooks during on-call duties.
• Write robust Python and SQL code that aligns with team conventions, receiving guidance on coding style, structure, and testing.
• Follow team standards regarding model organization, naming conventions, and documentation practices.
• Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
• Implement unit tests and understand what constitutes good test coverage for data pipelines.
• Take ownership of assigned pipeline tasks, communicate any blockers promptly, and ensure completion of work.
• Actively engage in agile rituals and team discussions.
• Document technical builds, including models, runbooks, and decision-making processes, while sharing insights with the team.
• Collaborate with Analytics, MLE, and Product stakeholders to comprehend how the data produced is utilized and identify opportunities to enhance stakeholder support.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficient in Python, capable of writing scripts, working with data structures, and adhering to a coding style guide.
• Experience with cloud environments such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Familiarity with SQL, enabling you to write queries, understand joins, and interpret schemas.
• Knowledge of data engineering concepts including ETL/ELT, APIs, data pipelines, or similar methodologies.
• A keen interest in understanding how data flows through systems and a desire to grasp the full stack.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills that allow you to articulate your work and signal when assistance is needed.
