Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and maintain high-throughput ETL/ELT pipelines for the purposes of data ingestion, processing, and storage solutions.

• Create intricate, performance-optimized data transformations utilizing Python, high-performance SQL, and tools such as dbt.

• Contribute to our technical vision and strategize on how to scale in order to meet future business requirements.

• Implement data operations best practices, which include CI/CD for data pipelines, version-controlled schemas (dbt), and automated testing protocols.

• Facilitate the advancement of data reliability and observability strategies, focusing on enhancing data quality and lineage tracking.

• Collaborate with distributed processing systems such as Spark, Flink, or Kafka to enable scalable batch and real-time operational analytics.

• Work alongside the ML Platform team to prepare and deliver clean, feature-rich datasets for model training and inference.

• Ensure responsible data stewardship by contributing to documentation, enhancing discoverability, and implementing robust data privacy and access controls.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Over 2 years of experience in data engineering and distributed systems.

• Practical experience in building and scaling data stacks on cloud platforms (AWS preferred), including familiarity with Snowflake.

• Proficient in developing and troubleshooting complex data transformations using Python and high-performance SQL.

• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.

• Knowledge of distributed processing technologies like Spark, Flink, or Kafka.

• Understanding of data modeling, ETL pipelines, and experience with data transformation tools such as dbt.

• Familiarity with contemporary data governance tools and practices (including cataloging, lineage, and PII masking).

• Experience with Iceberg, Debezium, or Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform for managing data infrastructure.
