Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design scalable, event-driven, and transactional architectures in AWS and hybrid settings.

• Establish data modeling strategies in Amazon DynamoDB, focusing on performance, scalability, efficient partitioning, and cost-effectiveness.

• Architect and implement streaming pipelines utilizing Apache Kafka and/or AWS MSK for real-time data ingestion and processing.

• Integrate Oracle (OLTP) systems with modern cloud platforms via CDC (Change Data Capture) patterns and data replication.

• Create comprehensive architectures that link transactional workloads, streaming, and analytics.

• Set standards for events, data contracts, and governance within distributed architectures.

• Guarantee high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability of real-time data pipelines.

• Partner with backend engineering teams to implement patterns like Event Sourcing and CQRS, as applicable.

• Enhance latency, throughput, and reliability in multi-region distributed systems.

• Establish best practices for data consistency, idempotency, and event reprocessing.

• Provide support for architectural decisions involving DynamoDB, Kafka/MSK, Oracle, and AWS data services.

• Collaborate closely with security and platform teams to maintain compliance, encryption, and security throughout data flows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or solution architecture within distributed and cloud environments.

• Strong background in designing transactional and event-driven architectures at scale.

• Expertise in Amazon DynamoDB, encompassing data modeling, access patterns, partitioning, and performance/cost optimization.

• Practical experience with Apache Kafka and/or AWS MSK, including topic design, event streaming, and real-time pipelines.

• Extensive knowledge of Oracle (OLTP) systems, including integration, replication, and cloud migration methodologies.

• Advanced understanding of architectural patterns such as Event-Driven Architecture, Event Sourcing, and CQRS.

• Experience in real-time data integration using CDC (Change Data Capture).

• Familiarity with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3, API Gateway) to facilitate distributed architectures.

• Experience in defining data contracts, event schemas, and data governance in distributed environments.

• Understanding of reliability best practices: idempotency, retry patterns, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.

• Experience with hybrid architectures (on-premises + cloud) and modernization of legacy systems.

• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar) is a plus.

• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Data Analytics, or AWS Developer) are advantageous.

• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and business teams, translating requirements into architectural solutions.
