Data Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Convert inquiries into actionable insights. Collaborate and integrate with cross-functional teams to transform vague business and operational queries into precise, valuable analytical outcomes. You will rapidly acquire subject matter expertise in brokerage operations, ledger systems, and compliance.

• Develop and manage analytics data models. Craft clean, maintainable SQL code for PostgreSQL, Trino, and Apache Iceberg to support essential financial metrics, dashboards, and analytical processes.

• Create and refine metrics and tables. Construct and enhance metrics and tables using dbt, presenting them through dashboards in Metabase to assist teams in understanding transaction volumes, revenue streams, and system performance over time.

• Conduct in-depth data exploration to address open-ended inquiries. Utilize SQL as your primary tool and leverage Python in a Jupyter notebook environment when beneficial, to investigate trends, anomalies, complex profit and loss (P&L) calculations, and trading behaviors, linking analyses back to pertinent business questions.

• Facilitate the operationalization of data. Identify structural opportunities for standardizing core business entities, proactively converting ad-hoc analytical requests into intuitive, user-friendly self-serve platforms.

• Support reporting functionalities and enhance report automation, including timely servicing of requests, cataloging recurring reports, and initiating discussions around the standardization and productization of data reports.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong SQL fundamentals. Proficient with joins, CTEs, window functions, and a well-structured query format across various database environments.

• Familiarity with Analytics Engineering. Previous experience in building analytical data models or metrics tables using dbt or comparable analytics-engineering workflows.

• Deep Analytical Intuition. Capable of asking the right questions, exploring data meticulously, and synthesizing clear, well-reasoned conclusions without getting sidetracked.

• Proficiency in Python & Notebooks. Comfortable utilizing SQL as the primary analysis tool, with the ability to employ Python (Pandas, NumPy) and Jupyter Notebooks for more efficient and deeper programmatic analysis.

• Effective Communicator & Collaborator. Able to convey insights clearly to both technical and non-technical partners, serving as a bridge between data infrastructure and business operations.

• Domain Agility. A strong eagerness to rapidly learn the complexities of a broker-dealer environment, including clearing infrastructure, execution lifecycles, and financial accounting standards.
